How Does The Program Work?
Each family selected must:
Have a source of income and be able to make monthly mortgage payments;
Be living in substandard housing;
Have a desire to own a home;
Be in a low-income range; and
Be willing to contribute up to 350 hours of sweat equity
Each Habitat family purchases their new house on a 20-year, no-interest mortgage. Typically, a
home mortgage is considerably lower than a family's previous rent payments.
Habitat homeowners pay back the mortgage to Garland County Habitat for Humanity. Mortgage
payments are placed in a "Fund for Humanity" to finance the construction of even more houses.
You may also make a tax deductible contribution to the Garland County affiliate which will be
used to benefit our local community.
How Can I Help?
Get involved in Habitat locally by contributing time, talents, and money.
If you have special skills or talent that could be put to use during construction or if you would
like to assist in the construction of our next home, please contact us for date, time and location
of our next Habitat project. We need your help.
You may also make a tax deductible contribution to the Garland County affiliate which will be
used to benefit our local community.
