Each family selected must:   Have a source of income and be able to make monthly mortgage payments;   Be living in substandard housing;   Have a desire to own a home;   Be in a low-income range; and   Be willing to contribute up to 350 hours of sweat equity Each Habitat family purchases their new house on a 20-year, no-interest mortgage. Typically, a home mortgage is considerably lower than a family's previous rent payments. Habitat homeowners pay back the mortgage to Garland County Habitat for Humanity. Mortgage payments are placed in a "Fund for Humanity" to finance the construction of even more houses. You may also make a tax deductible contribution to the Garland County affiliate which will be used to benefit our local community. How Can I Help?
